This month we meet Penny, the face behind the mouth-watering blog, Jeroxie – Addictive & Consuming.
.
.How do you describe Jeroxie to people you meet who haven’t read it before?
Jeroxie is my life through food. It is an invaluable repository for our stories, triumphs and failures in the kitchen, as well as dining out and travel experiences.
Jeroxie gives you a glimpse into my life. You get to hear about my stupidity, my awkwardness and my rabbles. And it comes all intertwined with food and more food. YUM!
When did you first start blogging and what made you first hit the keyboard?
I started blogging in June 2009. It was through some encouragement from my partner. Plus, I needed a new project to keep me occupied and happy. And blogging about food makes me a happy Jeroxie.
What is the thing you most enjoy about blogging?
The beautiful people that I met through blogging. Many of these people that I met through blogging has been so diverse and if not for blogging, I will almost never have met most of them.
A fellow Canadian food blogger even offered her room when I went travelling to Toronto this year! How freaking super awesome is that?
What is the coolest thing your blog has helped you do?
It gave me the courage to do many things that I never thought I could achieve or ever do. Last year, I instigated Melbourne first ever Food Bloggers Dinner. A group of 6 food bloggers took over a professional kitchen at Miss Jackson and cooked a 5 course dinner for 45 paid patrons. It is an event and night that I will remember for the rest of my life.
It also gave me the opportunity to give back to the community. I have used my blog as a vehicle to promote and supporting various initiatives like STREAT, Streetsmart and CSR Bake a Difference.
My blog, Jeroxie, has also led me to many culinary adventures and experiences. And it is mostly captured on the blog.
What piece of advice would you give someone just starting out their very first blog?
Use your own voice. Don’t allow others to decide what your blog should be. You have to make your own decision and stand by it. Also remember to support other fellow bloggers. Blogging is about being a community.
Tell us about your pets, friends, hobbies, star sign, shoe size… whatever!
I love my partner that I have been with for almost 11 years now. He is my rock and always been supportive in his own ways.
I love my pet Jack Russell, Tekkie. Very snappy and weird (just like owner).
And I can be socially awkward at times. But still love for you to come say Hi! Just as long as you start the conversation, I can continue.
Do you have a particular favourite post that you think is Jeroxie at its best?
I love cooking but suck at baking. However, the post that I did on Peanut butter and oreo cupcake with oreos and peanut butter frosting is a big hit. And if you love bacon as much as I do, then the bacon jam recipe is the bomb.
And if you like, please join me on a monthly food blogging event that I host every month – International Incident Party (#IIP).

I have about over 60 food blogs in my RSS feed. I wish I could name them all!
What do you love about Nuffnang?
Nuffnang has given me so many opportunities to meet new people and experiencing products and events. It is also a no hassle way to make some extra income so that I can spend it back on yummy food.
I also loved the recent Nuffnang Blogopolis. It was such an inspiring day.
Lastly… why can’t donuts be square?
Donuts or doughnuts? Actually there are square donuts and even rectangular ones! We could be starting a trend of square donuts if we have the right mould for it!
