If you like a chance to be Nuffnang's Featured Blogger Of The Month, contact us at helpdesk and tell us:
1) Who you are (Photos of yourself would be a bonus).
2) Why you think we just HAVE to make you the Featured Blogger Of The Month. If you are selected, a member of our Nuffnang Team will contact you.
If you are not selected, don't be disappointed. There are after all 12 months in a year.
How do you describe Violet LeBeaux to people you meet who haven’t read it before?
I generally say it’s a website devoted to pink, frilly, girly things with lots of beauty and craft tutorials thrown in for good measure. Sometimes that is a bit of a mouthful but when I hand out my business card (it’s got a pink with a big ribbon bow and diamante) they generally get the idea!
When did you first start blogging and what made you first hit the keyboard?
I’d been blogging on Livejournal since around 2005 using it as a personal journal but I started this blog at the end of 2008 when I was spending a lot of time at home due to an illness. It was a way for me to document my craft project and artwork as well as socialise a bit more. From there it kind of spiraled out of control and grew a mind of it’s own!
What is the thing you most enjoy about blogging?
I love the social aspect of it! My partner James and I moved to Melbourne knowing almost no one here other than friends we’d met online, a year later these people have become family. I have met so many wonderful people over the last few years it’s hard to go past that because every day they remind me just how lucky I am!
What is the coolest thing your blog has helped you do?
Visiting Singapore for the Asia Pacific Blogger Awards was pretty damn awesome!! I love to travel so that was a huge thing for me, especially because I was able to meet so many bloggers from other countries who I’m still in contact with. Eventually I would like to do a big world trip and meet up with bloggers in every country! Having my blog has also allowed me to indulge more in my passions like crafting and meeting others who share my love of cute things!
What piece of advice would you give someone just starting out their very first blog?
Make friends not readers. I think it’s much more fun to try to get to know people who are interested in your blog. It depends on what your blogging goals are though! Learn when to listen and when to ignore negative comments, not everyone will agree with what you do but it’s how you deal with that which makes the difference. Work hard and eventually if you’re on the right track good things will come. Also totally buy my ebook ;)
Tell us about your pets, friends, hobbies, star sign, shoe size… whatever!
Let’s see… I’ve lived with my awesome partner James in Melbourne for 1 year now, before that we lived in Brisbane and before that Townsville, Brisbane again and Toowoomba. I’ve lived in a lot of houses and I get the moving bug every few years again which is both good and bad. I don’t know how to drive, I spend way too many hours thinking about tea, I could spend all day knitting and I love big hair and big blingy nail art.
Do you have a particular favourite post you think is Violet LeBeaux at its best?
My most popular posts are the hair and craft tutorials but I think my all time favorites would be my Boots Customisation Tutorial where I took some cheap Target boots and reworked them to fit me and also my Bunny Slippers Tutorial in which I showed how I made cute new slippers out of James’ old socks! At the moment my blog has over 100 tutorials and I post new ones every week!

Recommend a blog to us! If you like Violet LeBeaux maybe you’d like…
Let’s see, I write in a lot of different genres so if you like the beauty side of things you’d like Becoming Beautiful, You’ve Got Nail and Fables in Fashion, if you like the craft side of things then Zakka Life and Ophanim Gothique have beautiful stuff. If you like the cute things I write about then you probably want to check Sweetheart Fashion or Hime Style.
What do you love about Nuffnang?
Mostly I love the community, I’ve been introduced some fantastic people through Nuffnang so I can’t really complain haha! The ability to run ads and make a little extra income also helps me justify the amount of time I spend doing something I love. Anything that allows me more time to make pretty things is a plus for me!
Lastly, if an orange is orange, why isn’t a lime called green or a lemon called yellow?
Well lime is a shade of green and lemon is a shade of yellow so they kind of are ;)
