This month we meet Kat, the face behind the super coordinated blog, The Organised Housewife.

How do you describe The Organised Housewife to people you meet who haven’t read it before?

Via The Organised Housewife blogFacebook and twitter I provide my readers with daily tips and ideas to keep them and their family organised.  Ideas to create new habits like making the bed first thing in the morning, creating a routine for the kids to make mornings chaos and frustration free or suggesting areas to clean that may be forgotten about, such as the dust on the ceiling fans.

My aim is to motivate and inspire readers to enjoy the journey they are living with their family while keeping a tidy home.

When did you first start blogging and what made you first hit the keyboard?

I started blogging in August 2010.  My youngest had just started school, I missed her terribly and needed a distraction, I cleaned, the house was spotless, I was bored.  My friends were asking me for advice about keeping a tidy home, my recipes and copies of the printables I created to keep the kids in an everyday routine. A blog was a perfect way to collaborate and share all the information.  Wow, I must say I have not been bored since the day I started The Organised Housewife.

What is the thing you most enjoy about blogging?

I LOVE that my blog is helping so many women that have either just had a baby, lost control and need to get back into routine, are depressed and don’t know where to start, a hoarder who needs simple tasks to break their pattern or somebody  who works full time and needs simple ways to do the housework .

What is the coolest thing your blog has helped you do?

I must say I am very excited to be going to the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards in Kuala Lumpar this month.  To be given the opportunity to travel, learn and celebrate blogging is just overwhelming and I am very thankful.

What piece of advice would you give someone just starting out their very first blog?

Write about something you are passionate about. Create a plan to give yourself direction which will help you to aim and achieve your goals.  Remember to believe in yourself and you will succeed.

Set boundaries in the beginning (ie, blog only 3 days a week or 5 days and weekends off) as I feel I have set the expectation to my reader that they will receive a blog post daily, which stops me taking a day off.

Tell us about your pets, friends, hobbies, star sign, shoe size… whatever!

We have a Ragdoll cat, Millee, she is a ratbag, runs around the house like a dog, sleeps all day and at night is a menace.  But we love her to bits.

My friends are so lovely, I am lucky enough to still be living in the same area I grew up in so am able to see my friends I grew up with regularly.  They are so supportive of my blogging venture. I have also made some beautiful blogging friends and one blogging bestie! It’s nice to be able to talk to somebody that knows what a blog and widget is!

I used to scrapbook BB (before blogging).  I don’t have the time now, instead I spend my spare moment sprucing up the blog.  But when I do step away from the computer I like to rest and watch TV, my favourite TV shows are Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Dexter and the hilarious The Big Bang Theory.

A few more random facts about me…I got married at 20 hubby was 19, I have a fascination with ChapStick, I am short, I am allergic to perfume and love Thai food.

Do you have a particular favourite post that you think is The Organised Housewife at its best?

One of my very first posts 5 steps to an organised kitchen cupboard.

Recommend a blog to us! If you like The Organised Housewife maybe you’d like…

Well this is hard there is so many I like.

Putting on a Party, is a new blog but the concept of this blog is to help you prepare and organise for kids parties.  My 3 kids all have their birthdays in the same fortnight (I know, didn’t organise that very well) so I need all the help I can get.

Seven Cherubs, this blogs helps you to find your happy place, a happy you.

What do you love about Nuffnang?

Nuffnang have opened my door to so many opportunities in regards to writing content and travelling.  It is a comfort having them by my side and helping me to grow my blog.

Lastly… what do the people in China call their good plates?

Umm…. I have no idea, but we don’t have ‘good’ plates.  What is the standard of ‘good’, I think my family are worthy of it for everyday use!
