This month we meet Liss, the creator of the beautiful www.daydreamlily.com – which turns three this month!

How did you choose your blog name? Are you Daydream Lily?

Choosing a name was actually the hardest part of starting blogging. I’d used the name Lily in other online profiles, then it was just a matter of playing around with different word combinations.

I’m not Daydream Lily but I feel she is a part of me. She’s someone I lost touch with along the way, a romantic and a dreamer that doesn’t want to grow up.

When did you first start blogging and what made you first hit the keyboard?

I started in June of 2007, it will be my blogs third birthday on the 18th of this month! I guess it was other peoples blogs that made me want to start my own. I’d finished studying and was working and going home and that was about it. I realised I wasn’t being creative and that had been such a huge part of my life growing up. So I started reading arts & design blogs then Daydream Lily followed.

What is the thing you most enjoy about blogging?

It would have to be the people I’ve met and the friendships that I’ve formed. Some of my best friends I have met through blogging. Also having the freedom to express yourself and being so supported and encouraged by the community.

What is the coolest thing your blog has helped you to do?

Blogging has opened up so many opportunities I couldn’t have imagined before. One of my favourites was being a Lomo Amigo for Lomography.com. Also the people it’s put me in touch with. Sometimes I receive and email and can’t believe they want to work with me or that even read my blog!

What piece of advice would you give to someone just starting out their very first blog?

Blog about something you really enjoy, because blog success doesn’t happen over night. My entire first year of blogging I only got 30 readers a day, but I loved it. And now when I blog I’m still blogging to those 30 readers. Also have a blogroll, link, comment, take part in the community and have nice manners! Oh and always reference the source of an image. Nothing makes me leave a blog faster then unreferenced images.

Tell us about your pets, friends, hobbies, star sign, shoe size… whatever!

I have two dogs, Georgie and Max both are Maltese x  shitzhu and a cat Andre.  I’m lefthanded and an aries. Oh and I don’t like to cook much – although I do love to be cooked for.

Your blog has a very distinctive beautiful, dreamy style – but you blog about a range of things from photography, to art, craft & objects. How do you decide what to include in your blog?

One of the approaches I’ve taken to blogging from the very beginning is to not really plan ahead too much. Most posts are done in the morning and are something I’ve only just discovered or Ill look through my bookmarks and see what is appealing that day. Often I just blog what I enjoy and others seem to enjoy it too…whether that be music, art or photography.  I’ve always boon more a visual person and not much of a writer so the blog is much more image focused.

Do you have a particular favourite post you think is Daydream Lily at its best?

My favourite posts are a quote or lyric matched with beautiful images to tell a story or capture an emotion… such as Lolita or  I tried to do handstands for you.

What do you love about Nuffnang?

I like the campaigns and opportunities they can get for their bloggers, it takes some of the work out if it for me. It also doesn’t feel like other advertising networks it is much more of a community that really cares about blogging.
