Nuffnang Featured Blogger for the month of March

Aloha Nuffnangers! I’m SIGMATE. Sorry but that’s all you get, as with all superheroes, my identity is a closely guarded secret.

This blog chronicles my dream to create a graphic novel (comic) but stopping along the way to enjoy some good food and chat with some of the most amazing
artists. An early highlight of the blog was Nat Gertler leaving a comment after I reviewed one of his books! Another highlight was meeting Gary Erskine when he made an apperance here in Sydney.

In 2008, I was fortunate enough to get a piece of my work published in a Melbourne based comic anthology. Whilst I feel I could have done a better job (such is art I suppose, you never like your own work) it provided the confidence to continue working towards my dream. I’ve also published my works from my first life drawing course where I learnt so much in regards to persepective and human anatomy.

In the midst of all this, I’ve been interviewing different artists and showcasing their work. Each artist also shared their amazing stories like Mike Crichlow who packed his bag and hopped on a plane to California to pursue his dream. At the time, he had no contacts, no job prospects but took the chance!

The blog will be ramping up in 2009 with more of my projects being posted up! You’ll be able to see my current works take shape from script to final project. And of course there’ll be more artists from every corner of the world showing off various styles and techniques!
