Hi I’m Karen Cheng, and I live in Perth, Australia. I’ve been blogging for almost 10 years now!

I write about all my passions – parenting, fashion, cooking, writing, photography, design, going out, online shopping and living a happy and fulfilled life. I only blog part-time, since almost all of my daily life is dedicated to raising my two boys. Parenting is hard work and tiring, but it is also the most satisfying job in the world.

I also believe in being my own person. I love going out to dinners, events and functions. I love shopping, dressing up, dancing and having a great time with friends – being young, frivolous and girly. I enjoy keeping healthy and active, and I love cooking!

4 years ago, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. His illness was a complete shock to our lives. Thankfully, he is well again, and we now have a third baby on the way. Facing this challenge makes me determined to live a life with happiness and fulfillment.

My website started out as a “personal website” before the days of “blogs”. Over the years it evolved, and took on a life of it’s own! I really had no plans for it, other than to express myself. But by 2003, so many people were viewing my site that it was costing me money to serve out all the data! I realised I was being read by a very wide audience. My blog is now more like a lifestyle and fashion magazine – with my voice and personality – read by thousands each day from all around the world. I am still amazed by this fact every time I think about it.

In 2005, I started running some ads to cover the cost of keeping the blog. And I thought, what if I could pay for my kids gym classes this way? And now, I hope to earn more than that!

But these are still early days for ‘blogvertising’, and I have not been very happy with any of the advertising services I have used so far, for a variety of reasons.

I have just made Nuffnang my preferred supplier of advertising services. Being created and based in the Asia-Pacific region, rather than America, Nuffnang are getting together bloggers and advertisers who are highly relevant to each other in this region, and that is great for everyone, including the readers of the blogs!

I am inspired to keep blogging by the emails I get from readers all over the world who say that they find my blog inspiring, positive, humourous, useful, and most of all, balanced.

Blogging also has some further benefits, like meeting mega-famous people (like Japanese game design god Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear, although I had no idea who he was at the time)

and helping to raise money for charity.
