Hi and thanks to Nuffnang for giving me the opportunity to feature here, especially as am following in the footsteps of the awesome blogger Karen Cheng. Our blogs are very different and I count my readers in hundreds rather than thousand but they are both written by women dedicated to writing about subjects they enjoy. I too have stayed at home with my children and now work from home web designing; partly for profit and partly on a volunteer basis for charities. I am very privileged to be able to do the things I have a passion for and my work and hobbies intermingle – I spend a lot of time online.
My personal blog Blogging Sueblimely is about the subject of blogging itself, which gives me an outlet to share what I learn on my travels around the web. I always have a need to know what is new so spend a great deal of time browsing, reading and trying out new applications. I concentrated on talking about web design when I first started blogging publicly, about 4 years ago, until I discovered that blogging was not just about writing in isolation. I started receiving comments and connecting with people which brought a whole new perspective to the subject and fuelled the interest to continue. Being able to follow and report on the development of all the new social networking sites, which I consider to be a real bonus for bloggers, added a new dimension and diversified my blog topics.
I write in a niche that is well covered but gaining fame is not the reason I blog; although I admit to getting an ego boost being able to write this. For me blogging is all about enjoyment, getting to know other bloggers and being exposed to ideas and topics that would not normally come my way.Since starting blogging myself I have gone on to create a number of blogs for others; personal, business and charity sites. My son suffers from a disability, Fragile X Syndrome. My blogging and knowledge of Wordpress has allowed me to create a new site for the Australian Fragile X Association complete with forums and a blog, which mostly covering news on disability in Australia. Keen to help spread information and awareness of this common genetic condition means that lately I am more likely to be found writing there than I am on my own site.
With the advent of Nuffnang ads on my site I am now dipping into something new again. A desire to fulfill another passion of mine, travelling, and a need to visit close family in UK, Poland, Canada (and now a daughter in Perth) does not match the capabilities of my bank balance. No advertising network had captured my interest until I read about Nuffnang and, true to form, I had researched the topic thoroughly. Nuffnang’s popularity and success in Asia and the type of advertisers it has attracted made me take notice. After reading about the commitment to fostering a community, sponsoring blogger outings and supporting charity, I felt compelled to become a Nuffnanger.
Regards
Sue
