This month we meet Mrs. Woog, the blogger behind the incredibly awesome blog, Woogs World!

How do you describe Woogs World to people you meet who haven’t read it before?

I would describe it as a daily read about daily mundane adventures that occur in our family.  Plus a little bit of pop culture and politics thrown in to spice things up a bit.

When did you first start blogging and what made you first hit the keyboard?

I resigned from my job in publishing when my second son Jack was born with a significant hearing loss and I took on the challenge to devote the first 5 years of his life to get him talking and into mainstream school.  I did that job very well and now I find it hard to stop him talking and singing.  Being a stay at home mum is challenging and I found myself going a little bit stir crazy.  At the end of every day I would find myself talking to Mr Woog,  boring him to snores with what I had been up to.  And when I started talking to door-to-door type sales folk and mormons,  I knew I had to find a new avenue to channel my need to communicate. Bingo! Blogging! I started in January 2010.

What is the thing you most enjoy about blogging?

Storytelling. Taking something so trivial and turning it into something that people want to read.  I have also made some invaluable friends who sometimes I cannot believe I would never have met if it were not for blogging. I am also partial to freebies that come my way.

What is the coolest thing your blog has helped you do?

I got to hang out with nerds at the Google Office here in Sydney. That was a spin out.  I also like promoting good causes and have enjoyed seeing how bloggers can make a difference with their words.

What piece of advice would you give someone just starting out their very first blog?

Write like no one is going to read it.  Because no one is going to read it for a long time.  Do not be impatient.  Work on finding your own voice.  Write for yourself and not an audience.  Be authentic with your content.  Do not worry to much.  Bang it out quickly,  kiss it goodbye and hit publish. Read blogs that inspire you,  make you laugh or make you think.  But most off all enjoy the process of writing.  Because if you don’t,  it will become a pain in the ass.

Tell us about your pets, friends, hobbies, star sign, shoe size… whatever!

I am married to a man who is my total opposite in every way.  We have been together for 18 years.  I love him and he loves me.  We have spectacular arguments and a whole lot of fun.  I have a son Harry, 7 and Jack who is 5.  They are beautiful,  challenging,  hilarious and constant.  Sometimes I look at them when I am driving in the Mazda and think “Who are you and how did you get here?” I am too irresponsible to own a dog but am muddling along ok in motherhood.

I have the worlds most amazing circle of friends.  I would throw myself in front of a Mr Whippy van for any of them.  I am a passionate advocate for the sisterhood.  I love going out and I love staying in.  TV news brings me to tears,  especially when it comes to Australian Politicians.  My passion is travel.  Give me a passport and a bag of cash I will go anywhere.  My hobbies include reading cookbooks and eating out at restaurants.  I love good wine and I love laughing.  If there was a job that involved eating,  drinking good wine and laughing,  please let me know.

Do you have a particular favourite post you think is Woogs World at its best?

That is a tough one.  A bit like picking your favourite child.  But I would have to say Tribal Wives Living Nicely on the North.

Recommend a blog to us! If you like Woogs World maybe you’d like…

http://stmurphy.blogspot.com/This a newbie on the blogging scene and I am predicting big things for this site.  Funny,  honest and just a touch gay.

What do you love about Nuffnang?

I love the fact that they are bang on the money when it comes to outreaching to bloggers.  They know their stuff.  They read blogs constantly and the team are professional,  personal and very good to deal with.  Nuffnang focuses on building blogging communities and are always ready to answer any questions I have,  even if they are trivial.

Lastly, tell us about your first crush…

I could have been Mrs Kershaw if Nik Kershaw had ever bothered to get back to me in 1984.  Oh well.  His Loss.
