We’re pleased to announce that we’re recruiting a part time intern for our Melbourne office. The intern will work with the Nuffnang team to support our blogging community, so we’re on the lookout for a final year media or publishing and communications student who is passionate about blogging and online communities.

The role is unpaid, but at the successful conclusion of the internship, the applicant will be considered for a full time role with us.

Nuffnang Australia Internship Program 2010

Company description:

Nuffnang Australia is the local arm of an Asia Pacific-wide blog advertising network. Nuffnang connects advertisers with its community of over 1,500 Australian bloggers who blog across a range of subjects, with particular strength in fashion, parenting and food. Nuffnang undertakes a range of activities to support its community of bloggers, ranging from events, blog awards and social media promotion.

Internship description:
This internship is for a final year student. They will gain experience in supporting and growing an online community, gaining experience in blogger relations, advertising campaign support and public relations through events and social media activity. A smaller part of the role will involve providing advertising campaign support including creating campaigns and generating reports through our internal system (all necessary training will be provided).

At the successful completion of the internship, the intern may be considered for a full time role within Nuffnang.

Job location: Nuffnang’s office in Prahran, Melbourne.

Internship duration: 3 months beginning in late May, 2010.

Hours/week: 15

Pay: Unpaid

Job description/opportunities:
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take a leading role in the creation and delivery of one major project over the term of their internship. This project will require the intern to help develop & implement a project plan under the guidance of the Community Manager. When successfully delivered, this project will be a portfolio piece for the intern which will support the glowing reference we’ll provide for you in return for your hard work!

The intern in this role will undertake a variety of community management and social media management tasks including: the organisation & promotion of events, providing advertising campaign support including blogger liaison, and involvement in social media including Facebook, Twitter and the Nuffnang Australia blog.

Required skills:
The ideal candidate for this position is a final year media or publishing student with a strong interest in, and involvement with, online media. They will be a motivated self starter who has already created at least one online project. They will already be a blogger, and they will also have knowledge and demonstrable involvement in online communities, with a desire to learn about community management. They will have excellent written and spoken English language skills. They will be passionate about creating and reading quality online content, with experience blogging and using a variety of social media.

Preference will be given to final years students who are interested in a full time role at the completion of their course.

Preferred degree/major:
Media studies, journalism or publishing and communications – preferably with an online focus.

Preferred traits:
The intern must be a self-motivated person who is able to manage their time and workload effectively. The intern will deal with a range of community members on behalf of the company, so must be able to communicate clearly and professionally both online and in person.
