If you thought blogging was going to be big, then the 2009 Nuffnang APAC Blog Awards showed us just how amazing and talented our Australian bloggers are.

Thanks to Pringles and Uniquely Singapore, Nuffnang Australia came to the awards well prepared with some of Australia’s best and brightest blogging talent. Through reader nominations across the APAC region, there were more than 13,000 total nominees that had to be whittled down to just five nominees in each category prior to the awards. Australia was strongly represented across the categories with nominees in the Best Parenting Blog, Best Geek Blog, Best Fashion Blog, Best Food Blog, Best Entertainment Blog, Hidden Gem Blog and Most Influential Blog! We even had some of the region’s most creative entries into the Pringles “It’s Krrunch Time” competition from Violet Le Beaux and Chocolatesuze, and one of the two semi finalists for the big video competition entry by Jimmy America.  We may be a small country in comparison to the rest of the region’s population, but we’re making a big impact with our talent!

After a brief chance to rest up at the Link Hotel, all our bloggers gathered together in the lobby at what became an impromptu paparazzi session of East meets West bloggers and their love of a photo op! After all, what is a blogger without a camera! Onto the Pan Pacific where it was a gala affair with the red carpet rolled out to greet all our bloggers and guests; while the guys from Canon were set up to take official photographs for the evening.

When it came time to announce the winners in each category, the results were awaited with nerves and anticipation.  And we’re super pleased to tell you that the Australian bloggers brought their A game, taking home no less than 3 final Awards! Congratulations to Christie from Childhood 101 who took out the Best Parenting Blog Award after only five months of blogging! Arnold from Mr Gadget took home the Best Geek Blog award, flashing his winning smile to the crowd and solidifying his position as a market leader when it comes to all things tech. The Best Fashion Blog award was taken out by Lady Melbourne, who also took home a great Canon prize pack to help her keep those outfit shots coming.

We’d like to congratulate all our nominees for their great blogging efforts that saw them invited to Singapore to participate in these awards. The results are an impressive show of strength for blogging in Australia, and it just goes to show that we are poised on the edge of something really big.
